A musician and songwriter who’s played various things in various ways at various times, with varying degrees of commercial and artistic success. By varying, I mean varying from none at all to almost none at all. I’ve made some records, done some exciting shows in exciting places and had some exciting drinks, many of which I didn’t have to pay for (except in sweat, y’know). You might even have some of my records, although if you do you probably know me personally. Over 20-odd years of fannying about in this way I have, like all good dreamers, amassed a stockpile of songs, recordings and bits and bobs that I never got round to using. Blame indolence, shyness, inertia, real life. In this day and (at my) age I have come to accept that I might not get round to getting a million pounds for these things after all, but there’s still something in these spurts and squirts of inspiration that it seems a shame to waste entirely. The good thing about this day and age, of course, is that I can play them to anyone in the world, for free, if they want to listen. The terrible thing about this day and age, of course, is that I can play them to anyone in the world, for free, if they want to listen.
These aren’t works of unparallelled genius. Well, they are, but I don’t know if it shows. They’re probably as good as a lot of stuff you might hear on the intrepid edges of the web though, and that’s good enough for me. You don’t have to love them or keep them or have your life changed. Just let them into your life for a few minutes and take what you get from them.
These are my little ghosts. Wisps of ideas that got left behind but won’t go away. Let’s give them a workout.
